Del Loma: A Hidden Gem of Trophy Steelhead Fishing

Steelheaders, check out our newest addition, the well-appointed 3BR River’s Edge Cabin, within steps of several hidden gem Steelhead holes on the Middle Trinity.

On their way upriver, Steelhead hole up in the river around Del Loma's secluded 100-acre wooded peninsula, before they venture up to more pressured waters near Weaverville or tributaries in between.

Wake up, grab your rod, and be casting into some prized waters within minutes. Leisurely explore the bends and riffles on over one mile of semi-private riverfront, including the legendary Bergman’s Hole and prolific Canadian Creek Rapids. Other Steelhead waters abound up & downriver within a few miles each direction.

Under new ownership since 2021, we’ve upgraded the Del Loma Resort’s lodging and amenities. The River’s Edge Cabin is the first of several upscale cabins to be added. There are 5 other smaller, heated cabins on the property as well.

A Mile of Walkable Riverfront on the Trinity

Fish at your own pace, away from crowds, and save on the cost of a guide and drift boat. Del Loma Resort is the peak of a relaxing but adventurous fishing trip, a great gathering spot with friends, with a chance to hook into some memorable catches.

September and October are spectacular but there are year round steelhead runs.

Location and Directions

We are an hour and a quarter West of Redding on the Scenic Hwy 299. 28 miles west of Weaverville. You can drive or fly into Redding or Weaverville and we can make arrangements to shuttle you over.

Resort Amenities

TV/Wi Fi, a country store, pool, game room, bocce court, laundry and other amenities all on site. 6 cabins in total + 30 RV sites. There is a great healthy restaurant 9 miles up the road at the Strawhouse Resort with a stunning river view patio. Weaverville has a great brewpub and other restaurants with excellent food. There is great bird watching, walking trails, and rafting and kayaking on site and all around the resort.

Equipment

These fish respond very well to swinging flies, drifting bait and roe, artificial-like wee warts, and other plugs and spinners. For flies, Black Rubber Legs, Mercer’s Epoxy Stone, or Vinci’s Depth Charge Bird’s Nest #12 are recommended as well as having an egg pattern as part of a two fly rig.
